RIDE
DETAILS
DAY 01 & 02
Tangier to Chefchaouen to Fez
The journey begins in Tangier, heading inland through the Rif foothills on flowing mountain roads that immediately set the tone for the adventure. The first stop is Chefchaouen, where there is time to explore the blue painted medina, browse artisan shops, and enjoy wide mountain views.
From here, the route continues south toward Fez, one of Morocco’s great imperial cities. Entering the UNESCO listed medina feels like stepping back in time, with ancient souks, medieval gates, and the famous tanneries filling the senses. Nights are spent in traditional accommodation in both Chefchaouen and Fez, fully immersed in local life.
DAY 03 & 04
Fez to Ziz Valley to Merzouga
Leaving Fez, the scenery changes quickly as fertile plains give way to the Middle Atlas Mountains. Passing through Ifrane, often called Little Switzerland, the road climbs into cool cedar forests where Barbary macaques are frequently seen.
The landscape shifts again as you descend into the Ziz Valley, a ribbon of palm filled oases and kasbahs cutting through the desert. By day four, the dunes of Erg Chebbi rise on the horizon as you arrive in Merzouga, where the Sahara truly begins. Overnight stays include a desert hotel or camp, offering an authentic experience at the edge of the dunes.
DAY 05 & 06
Merzouga to Todra Gorge to Ouarzazate
Leaving the Sahara behind, the route turns west through arid landscapes dotted with ancient kasbahs. One of the riding highlights is Todra Gorge, where towering canyon walls close in around the road, creating a dramatic and unforgettable stretch of tarmac.
Continuing on, you reach Ouarzazate, known as the Hollywood of Morocco and surrounded by cinematic desert scenery. A visit to the UNESCO listed Ait Benhaddou showcases some of the finest earthen architecture in the country. Nights are spent near Todra Gorge and in Ouarzazate.
DAY 07 & 08 & 09
Ouarzazate to Marrakech to Essaouira
The adventure climbs into the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the legendary Tizi n’Tichka Pass with sweeping switchbacks and wide panoramic views. Descending into the plains brings you to Marrakech, a city alive with colour, energy, and sound. Time here allows you to experience Jemaa el Fnaa, historic palaces, and peaceful gardens.
From Marrakech, the route heads west toward the Atlantic, arriving in Essaouira. This relaxed seaside town offers a perfect contrast, with ocean air, surf culture, and a historic medina framed by sea walls. Two nights here allow time to unwind and explore at a slower pace.
DAY 10
Essaouira to Casablanca
Leaving Essaouira, the ride follows the Atlantic north toward Casablanca. Open coastal roads blend with rural countryside as the landscape gradually becomes more urban. Arrival is planned for the afternoon, with time to explore the city or visit the iconic Hassan II Mosque overlooking the ocean. Overnight is spent in Casablanca.
DAY 11
Casablanca to Tangier
The final day delivers a scenic coastal ride north from Casablanca back to Tangier. Long beaches, fishing ports, and wide Atlantic views provide a relaxed and reflective finish. Arrival in Tangier closes the loop where Africa meets Europe, bringing this epic NOMADMOTO journey to a memorable end.
